present simple or continuous

Hello,

a trivial question:

Why are you learning English?
Why do you learn English?

(asking for reasons for learning English in general)

I found hits for both…Are they both correct? Is there any difference in meaning?

Thanks

Hi Marionetta,

This asks why you are doing this now/at this moment/at the present time/period.

This asks for the reason you have chosen English as a language to learn.
