However, hard I try it never works.

You need to remove the comma and replace ‘however’ with ‘no matter’:

No matter how hard I try it never works.

What is a pre-course task and why Celta? Why not TOEFL, IELTS, LCCI, Oxford, etc?

Because it will give me the techniques on how to teach English…
The pre-course task is a revision of some grammar rules, we should submit it before starting the course.
