He is on the fifteenth page of the report he is typing.
=> So far he has typed fifteen pages of the reports. -
I have never heard a more interesting story than this one.
=> This is the most amusing story I have ever heard. -
We admired him because of his great ability.
=> Because he is able greatly.
So far he has typed fifteen pages of the report. (Based on the first sentence we are talking about one report.)
The sentence is correct if we assume that ‘interesting’ and ‘amusing’ are two complete synonyms.
In the first sentence ‘ability’ should be followed by an infinitive such as ‘his great ability to inspire others’.
In the second sentence you should rephrase both facts – that we admire him as well as why.
Please let me know if this makes sense.
Thanks,
Torsten
Many thanks Sir Torsten very much for your kindness to help me. But this does not make sense to me. I still don’t get your point in the sentence" We admired him because of his great ability." I have to rewrite this sentence with the word given is " because" so please help me.
How about: We have a lot of respect for him because of his excellent skills?
