ELECTRONIC WASTE

Electronic  waste can be defined in two ways. Firstly we can describe devices that use data, such as computers, mobile phones and mp3 players, as well as other electronic goods including televisions and washing machines, that have been thrown away  as electronic waste because these objects are physical objects. Secondly may be about data waste that are deleted files in computers and on the internet for example digital photos, spam e-mails and deleted documents that have been sent to the recycle bin.These would be waste because they are thrown away by computer users.Both of these wastes can create problems because of different reasons that will be explained. However there are some solutions to these problems such as recycling that will also be explained.
Technology is always improving and new electronic goods are produced every year.This means much electronic waste is created because old devices are thrown away when they can’t be used. An estimated 50 million tons of E-waste is produced each year and  in the USA 30 million computers are discarded each year and 100 million phones are disposed of in Europe each year.These create new problems of waste and pollution problems. Some electronic waste contains lead, cadmium, beryllium, and mercury that polutes the environment and creates health problems for people living nearby.The main way to reduce the electronic waste is recycling because many parts can be recycled.For example metals such as lead, copper,gold. silver, and platinum are found inside electronic waste and can be recycled. Some campaigns such as  AddressTheMess, The Electronics TakeBack Coalition and the Texas Campaign for the Environment are trying to spread information about recycling to  make more people recycle their electronic waste. If people don’t know how to recycle, the problem of electronic waste  will get worse.
Data waste may be taken into electornic waste .Lots of spam e-mails  are sent to miliions of mail adresses everyday.Spam e-mail can be decribe as  unnecessary mail and it has  advertisements.Also deleted and sending to recycle bin files like photos, documents can be waste.Because they create pollution problems on the databases.In developed counties sending these types of mails is  crime and there are punishments for these. We don’t know what is happening to deleted files and where are they  stored.So it isn’t known how to  stopped the data pollution.
In conclusion, electronic waste is a big problem for causing lots of effects.It can be worse in the future  if any solutions cannot be found.So people must be educated  and informed about electronic waste and recycle.The campaigns can do symposiums for giving information.In this way lots of electronic goods which are wastes can be used again or data pollution can be obstructed.
