Peace and war

Earth’s experimented the war Since the Dawn of humanity for many reasons, most of them return back to selfish motivations like the desire of domination over person’s life and stealing their properties. It was the desire of control. But peace efforts have always emerged among these wars, in continuing attempts to eradicate the reasons of wars, but unfortunately, the more we think the humanity has evolved, the more reasons of war has expanded and has become more diverse. Even we try to civilize these reasons to justify the atrocity towards others, we have the ability to change these reasons to motivations through dressing them the religion cloak, then every evil act will be a virtue “from our perspectives”; suicide becomes martyrdom, killing others become defense of religion, stealing others and spread the terror between safe people becomes a noble purpose namely spreading the message’s God. If we read the history of wars all over the world, we’ll find that the most aggressive wars those which waged based on religious motivations, although all religions claim they seek peace, but there is a huge gap between what the religion says and the religious folk do. However, there is always hope to make the peace prevail, and this won’t happen unless we listen to each other, start accepting others and their own ways of living and co-operation between intellectual people in each religion to revise its resources and discard any invitation to atrocity or hatred.

TOEFL listening lectures: Why does the professor mention New York Harbor?
