Pattern one's behavior vs Model one's behavior

Hello

I’m wondering which one of the below sentences is O.k.

  • Children tend to pattern their behavior on/ after their parents.
  • Children tend to model their behavior on/ after their parents.

Thanks a lot

model on

Thank you Beeesneees for your reply.

Do you mean use of “pattern” in the sentence is wrong or “model” is better fit there?

The sentence should be
Children tend to model their behavior on their parents’ behavior.
Children tend to model their behavior on that of their parents.

‘Pattern’ is incorrect.
