Is it grammatically correct if I rewrite this sentence “Our calendar, named for Pope Gregory, is called the Gregorian Calendar” as follows: “Our calendar, being named for Pope Gregory, is called the Gregorian Calendar”?

No, I would suggest this: Our calendar is called ‘Gregorian’ because it was named after Pope Gregory.
