One should try to do things, which he thinks he cannot do

“One should try to do things, which he thinks he cannot do”- an aphorism that encourages a person to achieve success over difficulties through endeavor. Since solving difficult problems requires a lot of cerebration, composure and patience, a person should never get frustrated and evade the predicaments.

Solving problems by self, not only helps a person to develop his thinking capabilities, but helps him to hone his mental powers, concepts and logistics. Since, his brain becomes adept at solving tough problems, he can get through relatively simple problems with ease. Furthermore, a person who takes pain to solve problems himself, through determination and diligence develops self confidence. A person, who is in habit to solve his problems himself, becomes self dependent and he does not find the need to knock others’ doors. In case if he does not find a way out of the predicament, he must pave a new way rather than evading the problem. For instance, Albert Einstein, a renowned scientist, while working on his hypothesis found something wrong with the Newtonian mechanics, he thus had to pave a new way out, which we today study as the Einsteinian mechanics. He found that the photons did not follow the basic principles of accelerating bodies, thus he had to transmogrify the previously established principles, and develop a new set of rules and formulae.

Furthermore, people today have become so accustomed to luxuries and joys that, they stay away from their own problems. The reason for such demeanor of people can be imputed to the fact, that they exaggerate their problem to such a high level and make it look so obfuscated, that they find evading as their only way out. Lack of self confidence may also be a reason for this digression, as people rely heavily on others to solve their problems, which in return weakens their concepts and confidence. Another reason would be the attitude of people towards life, they want to live a simple, joyous and an easy life and never try to hammer out problems themselves, but they tend to forget that “Life is not a bed of roses”. E.g. Michael Faraday never led a simple life, he worked at the binding shop, but he studied the books that came to him, and as everyone knows his painstaking efforts to generate electricity from magnetism, actually paid him off. One should realize that if joys are a part of life, so are the difficulties.

Hence, finding an easy way out, by simply evading and giving up is not a solution to any problem, it makes the things much more abstruse, therefore, one should try to cogitate and at least put in sincere efforts to do the things which they think they cannot do’. One should know that difficulty never lies with the problem, it comes from within. Furthermore, one should remember the maxim stated by Theodore Roosevelt - “Nothing worth gaining was ever gained without effort”.
