one sentence OK?

I want to say about two past actions.
The first one is: I had been thinking.

After the first, the second, later was: I was feeling.

The first action is changed according to the tenses sequences: will have to take-> would have to take.

So, will it be OK?:

I was feeling cheated, because I had been thinking that I would have to take medicines to the end of my life.

Some positive modifications:
I was feeling (I felt) relieved (when I was medically declared healthy) because I had been thinking (until then) that I would have to take medicines for life.
