ONCE in grammar

Hi could you please check the sentence…im’m not sure with the proper verb to use.

Once you returned/return to work, please answer my e-mails.

Does Group A has experienced same problem?

thanks.

The verb is “return.” Note that you have used a command in the present tense on the other side.

Has Group A experienced the same problem?

thanks Mordant, but if i did not used command, what is the other work around for this sentence?

also with regards of Does/Has/Is, i having problem in choosing the right word when i will ask for something. what is the technique of pointer to remember?

thanks again

Hi. Please capitalize the first letter of every sentence. The noun is “workaround.” The pronoun “I” is always capitalized.

You had a few options with the sentence I corrected. You used “experienced,” which led me to believe you wanted to know if Group A had experienced the problem in the past. Therefore “does” is wrong. But you could use “did.” The auxiliary “do” takes the base infinitive and never participles, so “did experienced” is wrong. The auxiliary “have” takes only participles. You cannot mix the auxiliaries “has” and “do” in the same verb phrase.

Did Group A experience the same problem?
Has Group A experienced the same problem?

These sentences are pretty much the same. You have either as an option for the same thought.

thank you again, that was a great technical explanation. but if we talk about the present status can I use “does/do” ? how can i ask if he/she already finished with his.her dinner?

thanks Again!

Hi.

“Do” and “does” are for the present.

Did he finish his dinner?
Has he finished his dinner?
Is he finished with his dinner?

wow that was great again…If I’m not sure if he is already done or has not yet started with his dinner, how should I ask?

If you’re asking, you’re not sure anyway. It depends on what you want to know. Before, you wanted to know if he had already finished, so you used the past tense. If you want to know if he is doing it now, then you use the present progressive. If you want to know when he is going to, use one of our many options to indicate future action. If you want to know if he has started yet, then you have already used what you need to ask the question.

Have you started dinner yet?
Did you start dinner yet?

Did he finish his dinner?
Has he finished his dinner?
Is he finished with his dinner?
Have you started dinner yet?
Did you start dinner yet?

Hi Mordant thanks for your help.

Hi Sir, please check.

  1. The request is already implemented since Monday morning after the management approval. And we’ll request additional info “only if” the management requires it.

  2. The request is already implemented last Monday morning when we got approval from the management.

Thank you.

The request was implemented last Monday morning following management approval. / The request has been implemented since Monday morning when approval was received from the management.
We will request additional information only if the management requires it.

Thanks again Sir,

Hiow about this,

We’ll revert once admin has made the result of their investigation based on the data gathered last week.

a. If you want a copy of files we can provide you one.
b. Should you wish to have a copy we can provide if you wish too.
c. If you want to conduct your own investigation we can provide you copy of files.
Thanks

‘revert’ is not the term you should use if you wish to use a good standard of international English. A native English speaker would never use ‘revert’ in that context.

We’ll reply once admin has made the result of their investigation based on the data gathered last week.

a. If you would like a copy of the files we can provide you with one.
b. Should you wish to have a copy, we can provide it.
c. If you want to conduct your own investigation, we can provide you with a copy of the files.

Thank you Sir!!!
