Could somebody care to explain the use of on you in here ?
what does it imply ? it appears to me a bit extra … I’m confused !!!

Do you have a mobile phone on your person? In other words, are you carrying a mobile phone somewhere about you? Perhaps in a bag or a pocket.
‘Have you got a mobile phone with you?’ will do just as well.

I guess it’s an American way of asking, but it’s pretty cool. If I just drop (have), I find this very fluent in speaking.
