Noun noun agreement.

“If the verb of a clause is not a verb of motion, the most usual order of the different types of adverb in the end position of a clause is as follows:”

In the sentence shown above I felt (that) there is an error where it reads: “…of the different types of adverb in the…”

Should the word Adverb have an “s” at the end?

“Of the different types of adverbs in the…”

Thanks again for helping me in my desire to attain a higher level in the English language grammar.

God Bless you all.

No, not necessary. Sometimes that noun-noun number agreement makes better style, but it is more often negligible.

Hi MM,
I have another question for Cisco’s sentence:

“If the verb of a clause is not a verb of motion, the most usual order of the different types of adverb in the end position of a clause is as follows:”

=> I think the first bold ‘the’ should be omitted. What do you think?

Many thanks,
Nessie.

Nessie, I do not think “THE” should be omitted for it is referring to a singular count which is the word “adverb”, that is my take on it, but let us wait on the experts last saying, meantime; have a nice day.

Cisco.

Mister Micawber, thanks a lot for your assitance to my question.
God Bless you.

This is not relevant to the question here, as I understand it.

Here the is optional, but I think it reads better if the is retained.
