no amount of

Hi,

what does “no amount of” mean ?

Thanks in advance.

It indicates that there isn’t enough of something as part of a phrase. The other part of the phrase contains the reason.

No amount of space could accommodate all the refugees. (There isn’t a space big enough to hold all the refugees)
No amount of perfume could overcome the stench. (There isn’t enough perfume to overcome the terrible smell)
The video was so bad that no amount of editing could improve it. (It won’t matter how much editing the film gets, it won’t be enough to make it better).

Thank you Beeesneees.
