Move (on/ahead) vs arise vs grow

Hi teacher Yankee,

Thanks for your responses.

Do move on , move, increase, grow and move ahead in have the same meaning and are they interchangeable? If not, what is the difference in meaning btw them?

Ex1: Share prices moved ahead today.
= Share prices moved on today.
= Share prices moved today.
=Share prices increased ahead today.
=Share prices grow ahead today. ?
Ex2: Activities in business investment had moved recently.
=Activities in business investment had moved ahead recently.
=Activities in business investment had moved on recently.
=Activities in business investment had grown recently.
=Activities in business investment had increased recently. ?

Q

Thanks teacher,

In short,

1/Share prices moved ahead today = Share prices moved ahead today =Share prices moved ahead today : up.
Share prices moved today: up or down

2/
Activities in business investment have moved recently :up or down.
=Activities in business investment have moved ahead recently. =Activities in business investment have increased recently. = Activities in business investment have grown recently :up.

Is that what you mean, teacher Yankee?

Q

Thanks
Q

Sorry, I have had some mistakes.

1/Share prices moved ahead today = Share prices increased today =Share prices grew today : up. ?

You wrote:

Share prices moved today: But, I would not recommend using this particular sentence to talk about share prices at all.

2/Yes, that what I’d like to ask. what do you normally say in this case?

3/You wrote:
In particular move on is quite different. This phrasal verb usually has the sense that you stop doing one thing and begin doing something else.

So, in this case move on = go on ?Are they interchangeable? If not, what is the difference btw them?

Thanks
