I’d prefer:
The most memorable stories about our ancestors were passed down from time immemorial.
We commemorate the stories about our ancestors passed down from time immemorial.

  1. The most memorable of our ancestors’ stories have been passed down from time immemorial.
  2. The most memorable of our ancestors’ stories were passed down from time immemorial. (‘were’ indicates that this no longer happens, so it is highly unlikely that this is the required tense).
  3. We commemorate our ancestors’ stories, which have been passed down from time immemorial.

Beeesneees,
‘We commemorate the stories about our ancestors since time immemorial.’
