Would anyone please explain the meaning of this phrase ‘By sb’s own account’ and it would more better if there will be some examples.

“By his own account” means “according to his own story”. Sometimes, but not always, it expresses skepticism about the person’s story. “Account” here means a story recounting some event.
“By his own account, he’s a very accomplished man, but other people say he is not very successful.”
“By the suspect’s account, it was his accomplice who shot the gun.”
