meaning of some phrases

Please could you explain me the meaning of these two phrases: I breathed a sight of relief and having a particular purge in your story? Thank you very much.

Hi Gabika,
breathe a sigh of relief = to stop being worried or frightened about something:
Once the deadline passed, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Have a purge= to remove bad feelings
Cheers!

‘Have a purge,’ can also mean to cleanse other things besides feelings.
“I had a purge on the kitchen cupboards.”

It can be used to indicate pruning or trimming of staff or objects.
“The organisation had a purge on unnecessary personnel which saved thousands in capital.”
