Lines from "First Love"

Hi

Could you please explain the second and third lines to me?They are in italics and from the short story, First Love.

I associate, rightly or wrongly, my marriage with the death of my father. That other links exist, on other planes, between these two affairs, is not impossible. I have enough trouble as it is in trying to say what I think I know.

Tom

Hi Tom

I interpret that to mean:
The writer thinks he knows that his marriage contributed to his father’s death. It’s possible that there may be other things that contributed to his father’s death. But it’s hard for him to express what those other things might be because he has trouble just expressing what he thinks he already knows.

Everything clear as mud now?
