Do you like to read books by English writers in their original or maybe just adapted books. At my university we must read a lot of books in English to master the language better & to learn a lot of useful words. What books could you offer??? As for me Im just madly in love with "Daddy Long Legs" by Jean Webster and "Godfather" by Mario Pjuzo. Ive read some other books, but these are my favourite.

“Daddy Long Legs” is a romantic story written by Jean Webster about 5 years of life of Jerusha Abbot (Judy). She, an orphan, who worked at the asylum, was sent by a kind gentleman to boarding school being provided with money & clothes on one condition. Judy had to become a writer and to write about her life to the gentleman, so she worked in her room, wrote different stories. She met there a lot of friends and at last she fell in love with…I wont tell you, or wont be interesting to you to read it yourself :)) The story is called in this way because its the way Judy called the kind gentleman who had sent her to that school. Youll find out why she called him that way. Thats a funny episode about that. The most interesting thing about this story is that its written in an unusual way-in letters from Judy to the gentleman… Read it…youll never regret!!! Its a lovely story, true!! :)))

I dont think Im a very good writer. As Judy said :“One should write about the things he knows very well”. I know different things, but I dont really know what to write about... Maybe one day Ill write something, but not now :)) And what about you???

You might be surprised but often it’s real life that is most interesting and what makes a good writer is their ability to observe and describe people. What you have written here on the forum since you registered is very valuable because it’s honest and sometimes spontaneous. Have you got an idea about how many people would be interested in learning more about life in Moscow? They have heard a lot of rumours nurishing all the chlich?s about the Russian mafia and Russians drinking vodka the entire day. And alongs comes Jailbird who tells us in excellent English what is really going on in Moscow. So, we are learning that there is an international students club, a beer festival, Afro-Americans living in town. Jailbird also tells us about Russian rock music and «Shashlik» and a lot more. If you look at the little number at the top of each new message in the forum you will see what the people in this forum are interested in.[YSaerTTEW443543]

Yes Jailbird, insider information about life in Moscow from a real «Moskvichka» will make for good reading. People are often interested in the small things, the little details they will never find in official travel guides or the newspaper. Moscow is a city of extremes and it makes you think that every person living there must somehow fall into a certain category. Most westerners know Russia only from following the mass media and the German government for example is trying to paint a rather bleak picture which fits the prejudices. Yet, Russia plays an important role in Europe and the more information we get the clearer becomes our view and better are our chances to understand each other. Yes, I know Bulgakov and his world-famous novel. I like it myself though its a rather complicated work. Well, the things you know for there :))) I see, but thats not everything!! And nowadays everything has greatly changed :)) I hope you understand that quite well :)))

Well, my dear members Im back again :))) This time ive returned earlier then I had expected. And Im going to tell you about a very interesting thing this time. You know, summer is the best season in Moscow to my mind for its always full of interesting exhibitions, shows & many other things. This week an exhibition of flowers & flower-beds has opened. Though I didnt have a chance to go there but my boyfriends mother told me it was a wonderful exhibition where really beautiful things could be found. Instead of going there we went to the cinema and watched there “New-York minutes” (or something like that). A nice film…

Welcome back to our forum and thanks a lot for sharing your latest happenings with us. So, you didn’t follow your mother-in-law-to-be and went to the cinema instead to watch a film. How did she react to that?
I take it it was an American movie? Did you see it in the original version, with Russian sub-titles or as a dubbed version? I remember seeing films on TV when I was in Russia and they usually came with Russian sub-titles but interestingly enough, there was only one male voice speaking all roles — female and male — of the original version. Still, it was very training for me because I could hear the American original speakers in the background and the Russian male voice on top.[YSaerTTEW443543]

My opinion is that if you want to write book you can’t write it like, okey I’m going to write book, and you take a paper,pencil and start writing… you need to wait for a special moments that occurs in everyone life, and when some sort of unexplainable imaginations occur you cant start writing. I remember that when I walk alone at the night while the snow is falling , I felt somehow I can’t say enlighten but I can say inspired, the millions of different ideas were in my head. And if in that moment I had some pencil I am quite sure I’ll write that down. But when I arrived at home, I was to lazy to do anything. P.S It doesn’t mean that you’ll be to lazy as well, I am really lazy, bad habit.
By the way, the last book I read is, Under the skin by Michael Feber. Twisted book, if you like sci-fi horror, it’s my deep recommendation.
