last week / in the last week

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed there’re the following two ways of saying. Both are the same and okay?

In the last week, how many days did you participate in it?

Last week, how many days did you participate in it?

I’d really appreciate your help!

The first one is incorrect, although it could be correctly rewritten: “In the past week, how many days did you participate in it?”. Then it would have the exact same meaning as your second sentence.

Dear Luschen,

Thank you for the clear explanation!
