January 26-27

On January [color=blue]26-27, 1967, 23 inches of snow fell on Chicago, collapsing roofs and shutting down the city for days. This latest storm was the third on record.

Is “26-27” correct? I think that “26 and 27” is correct. What do you think? There is no day between Jan. 26 and 27.

Am I right in saying that E2e4 doesn’t agree with me on this point?

You are right.

The hyphen is in standard usage there, even though there are no other days in the period.
