Woman: Where have you been?
Man: I’ve been to get the mail. I promised to get the mail, Remember?
Woman: Oh, yes, you did promise to get the mail.
Man: It’s part of my job as your secretary.
Woman: Quite right. What a good secretary!
Man: Thank you, but you’ve received a lot of mail today, haven’t you?
Woman: Yes, I have received a lot of mail. I receive a lot of mail every day. These are all advertisements.

I’ve been to get the mail.
Oh, yes, you did promise to get the mail.

What does “get the mail” mean?

Bring the mail or fetch the mail or receive the mail or something else?

Thank you

It means to fetch the mail. ‘Get the mail’ is almost always how it’s said in AmE.

The word ‘fetch’ is almost never used in any context in modern AmE.
