"It's time I learned how hard life is" or "...life was"?

Hi,
Should we say “It’s time I learned how hard life is” or “…life was”?

Many thanks,
Nessie.

It was the time I learned how hard life is. (If you still believe that life is hard.)

Thanks for your idea, Cossette, but I think you may have misunderstood my question. The structure ‘it’s time/it’s high time’ is quite common, and the verb after it must be in past tense; what I wonder is if we should use verbs (after the first one) in past tense, too.

By the way, ‘it’s high time’ vs ‘it’s a high time’ - which is correct?

Many thanks once again.

hello do we say ;i can be able to…or we say i will be able to

Hi,
Could anyone please shed some light on this?

Many thanks,
Nessie.
