I’m new here.
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to make friends with intelligent people than with people who have a good sense of humor.
What are some of the important qualities to look for in a friend? Different people will give different responses to this question from their own characters, emotional concerns and even educational backgrounds. Some believes that it is better to make friends with intelligent people that with people who have a good sense of humor. However, when it comes to me, I believe that people with a good sense of humor would make a better friend. I take this view on account of the following reasons.
To begin with, people with a good sense of humor could make your life full of laughter, and as we all know, laughter are an essential part to good health and happiness. Laughter also helps release pressure. When you are engaged in a fierce discussion in the meeting room, or going through a dry period of brain-storming, people with a good sense of humor will always be able to lighten up the mood. They may tell a joke, or make fun of trivial things to make people laugh. These simple actions could release tension and pressure, therefore stimulate good ideas. Also, when you are having dinner with your friends, or travelling with them to unfamiliar places, your humorous friends will keep your spirits high and render the journey more fun by making you laugh.
In addition, when faced with difficulties or obstacles, people with a good sense of humor are able to look on the bright side and stay positive most of the time. Their sense of humor makes it easier for them to cope with the daily affairs of life. It brings optimism into life, and renders it easier to avoid worry and negative thinking. If you have friends with good senses of humor, they may help you adopt humor as a way of life, it will bring constructive changes into your life, and makes them happier, brighter and more successful. With a positive attitude you see the bright side of life, become optimistic and expect the best to happen. It is certainly a state of mind that is well worth developing and strengthening.
Of course, I do not deny the fact that intelligent is also an important quality to look for in a friend. Intelligent people will be able to offer you wise advice, help you to correct your mistakes and so on. However, if I have to choose between these two qualities, I would choose humor. For who could live without laughter?
