Is this correct English

Hi guys,

Imagine you are a student in a university. And your classmate asked you:

-I did not see you last week?

You replied by saying:

-How come?! I came everyday last week!

Actually I have several questions regarding the above:

1- Is it correct to say “Imagine you are a student in a university” or “Imagine you were a student in a university”?
2- Is it correct to say “your classmate asked you” or “your classmate asks you”?
3- Is it correct English to say “I came everyday last week”?

Thanks

Hi,

1- Is it correct to say “Imagine you are a student in a university” or “Imagine you were a student in a university”? Both are possible2- Is it correct to say “your classmate asked you” or “your classmate asks you”? Both are possible’asked’ would go with ‘were’ and ‘asks’ would go with ‘are’.

3- Is it correct English to say “I came everyday last week”?

You would say: I was here every day last week.

Thanks Alan. I appreciate it.

OK, suppose you are a retired person. You want to tell your kids how hard worker and punctual you have been. So, can you say:

I used to go everyday to work at 8 am exactly, except one day I was absent because I was sick?

Hi,

I have made some changes above.

Alan

Thanks Alan
