I'll still be arriving late

:blossom: In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. :blossom:

Hi!

A: I thought you took the plane to Winnipeg.
B: I missed it.
A: What?
B: Yes, I arrived too late.
A: Oh, I’m sorry, Jane! Why don’t you take the next flight?
B: Well, It’s too late to fly there now. So, I’m taking the train instead.
A: Jane on the train! But it’s so slow, Jane.
B: Yes, I know, and I’ll still be arriving late when I get in Winnipeg. ←
A: Well, better late than never. Come, we can travel together.

What does “still” mean here?

Does it mean “however” or something else?

Thank you

B: Yes, I know. Either way I’ll be arriving late.

It means that it won’t make a difference if Jane takes the train or takes the next flight. Either way she will be late.

So still means:
either way
regardless
anyway

To put it simply, ‘still’ means ‘whether she travels by air or by train’, she will arrive only late in Winnipeg!

I would say: ‘Yes, I know, but I’ll be arriving late in Winnipeg anyway.’ I think it’s better for readability’s sake. Don’t you think AlwaysSleeping?
