If you could change one important thing about your hometown, what would you change? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.
My hometown is in a highland in which almost its area is covered by tropical forest. However, ten years ago, people cut down all trees for producing paper and wood furniture. If I could change one important thing about my hometown, I would keep forest. In view of the fact that people have gotten less benefit than the price has been paid for their actions, such as irregulating water, impoverished soil.
Thank to trees having a lot of roots that it keeps water from raining in summer season in land. This will regulate flow of water in rivers and streams to prevent flood in the rain, and keep constantly underground water in dry season. Actually, from destroyed-forest, people always live in unsafely conditions by flood which are generated at any time, even thought small raining falls in ground in my hometown. In dry season, big animals including cow, buffalo…ect are died by lack of water, while people living is also not better than them, since underground water supplier is not enough water for their demand. Although, my government have been replanting forest, but it will take a long time to restore the original.
Additionally, trees-lost causes impoverished soil, because there have not have trees to keep a thin nutritional layer on the land surface, so it is easy to throw it away by a raining. Besides, in annual, the land is not added a big amount of nutrition by death-tree degradation and transformation process in soil. Therefore, farm work is more disadvantages. Farmers have to spend much more money on chemical fertilizer for their crop. Yet, the capacity is not really high; it also induces other issues for environment including land and water pollution.
Abovely, this is only an individual wish for changing my hometown which was affected by tree lost. On the other hand, I also hope every people know additional information about the role of forest in our planet through my assay. To save our planet, it is being damaged by human’s activity.
