Idiom: keep on the wheat rather than the chaff?

Hi again, thank you all for answering my question about the phrase ‘this shit is bananas’. I have another question, this time about an idiom: to keep on the wheat rather than the chaff

I suppose if you keep on the wheat rather than the chaff, you do a good job?

Thanks in advance and keep on rocking

When you keep the wheat rather than the chaff, it usually means you’ve kept the good, productive people and gotten rid of the others.
