ICE self check-in?

Pretty interesting things are happening technology wise in Germany nowadays. The Deutsche Bahn introduced a new service a couple of months ago that allows passengers of ICE trains (Intercity Express) to self check-in. This means you purchase your ticket via the DB app and hit a button on your smartphone.

Do you have a similar service in your country?

By the way, what’s funny though is that even in the English version of the DB app the function is called ‘Komfort check-in’, an interesting combination of German and English…

But as you can see I now have a stable Wi-Fi internet connection on the train allowing me to create this post while riding the ICE to Frankfurt. That’s definitely progress).

Yes, Russian Railways (RGD) have recently launched the similar app. It allows to buy tickets online without comission.
Your screenshot reminded about my railway trip from Berlin to Leipzig seven years ago. I wonder if jubilee DB train dedicated to the 180th anniversary was launched in 2015?
