“I have been sent an e-mail” - What does this means?

Thanks,
Suresh

‘I have been sent an e-mail’ means that someone has sent me an e-mail. This sentence is in the passive voice – present perfect passive, to be more precise (something has been done to the subject).

Hi Suresh

When an active sentence has both a direct object and an indirect object, it is often possible to use either the [color=blue]direct object OR the [color=red]indirect object as the subject of the sentence in the passive voice:

ACTIVE: Someone has given [color=red]me [color=blue]the information.
PASSIVE: The information has been given to me.
PASSIVE: I have been given the information.
.

nice … i got it
