I expect you (will- are going to) hear about the news?

OK thanks

Can you please change the title to ( Ahmed’s questions) ??

2- Do we say that trees (make) their leaves or (grow) them or what ?

You can do that yourself by editing your first post. This thread became rather confused though, which is why I separated out your questions into individual messages.

They grow them.

Trees grow leaves
However, it is more common for ‘leaves’ to be the subject and ‘trees’ the object:
Leaves grow on trees.

It says

Sorry, but you can’t edit this post.

Can we say

a baby grows his teeth / arm ??

That would sound incredibly silly.

I recommend this book to you . I am sure you ( will-would) like it.

Choose

I recommend this book to you. I am sure you will like it.

If I were to recommend this book to you I would be pretty sure that you would like it.

Hello, Coach!

Which sentence below is correct using the word “huge” or “large”?

a. You have a huge balance to your credit card.
b. You have a large balance to your credit card.

In referring to money, please give your sample sentences.

Thanx a lot coach!

Both are okay, Kharla.
‘Huge’ is generally defined as a much larger amount than ‘large’.

Do we say

21st March or 21st of March or The 21st of March or March 21st ??

I want all acceptable answers ( I know the last is)

The twenty-first of March
March the twenty-first.

OK , what about if we are using numbers >

what to say ??

Now I will put some question that I want to ask about

I chose English as my advanced level and there are some questions

note that in these ((find the mistake)) sentences , there may be more than one mistake >> grammatical or meaning

20- the army have put a cord round the city ----------------------(barbed wire)
21- the murderer choked his victim with stocking ----------------------(no Idea)

sorry >> I know they are many questions !
18-

You still SAY the same!
There is no difference in what you hear/say, regardless of whether the written form is given in figures or words.

1- I’ve been having aches in the chest ---------------------- ( I don’t know)
I’ve been having pain(s) in the chest.

2- I don’t have hunger at all and I think I am thinning----------------------(getting thin)
I’m not hungry at all and I think I am losing weight/getting thin.

3-You can get this medicine at the pharmacist’s----------------------( can’t find one)
It’s acceptable as it is. Possibly ‘buy’ instead of ‘get’.

4-you will be good in no time----------------------(well , but I still find “good” good enough !)
Me too - but ‘well’ is correct.

5-we must be sure he reserves a fair process ----------------------(receives — trial) (any other ideas ??)
No - your ideas sound okay.

6-his behavior raised my suspicion ----------------------( aroused >> but I think raise is OK )
‘aroused’ is right. The term is fixed. We don’t say ‘raised my suspicion’ though we do say ‘he raised suspicion’.

7-will this proof stand up in court
You need ‘evidence’ instead of ‘proof’.

8-you can’t do an accusation without proof ----------------------( make an accusation— but have we to change proof ?? and what is the difference between this and the previous sentence ??)
Make an accusation. ‘Proof’ is correct here.

9-the pang specialized in robbing banks and selling them ----------------------(gang or bang___ but how to change "selling them " ??
The gang specialised in robbing banks and fencing the proceeds.

10–there is a big police chase for the criminals ----------------------(no Idea)
There is a big police hunt for the criminals.

11-I was sued and had to pay damages for 5000 pounds ----------------------(may be we can erase “for” and put “totaling”
or simply ‘of £5000’.

12-these credit cards are easy to imitate ----------------------(forge)
yes

13-A lie is intended to cheat someone ----------------------(to deceive)
yes

14-when does the number of the try begin ----------------------(countdown)
what might ‘try’ refer to here? i don’t understand the question/

15-the innocents are punished a long with the guilty ----------------------( the innocent — along with )
yes

16-members of the special services are highly drilled ----------------------(served instead of drilled ?)
trained instead of drilled.

17-Good war pensions should be paid to all the invalids ----------------------( all the retired- the old )but what does (good war pension )mean ?
I see nothing wrong with the original. Possibly ‘higher war pensions’.

18-who commanded the soldiers to fire ? ----------------------(no Idea)
I’m not surprised. It’s a perfectly acceptable English sentence. Some of these questions seem a little ‘old hat’ which makes the test flawed for modern language.

19- a great power should have a large marine ----------------------(navy-- fleet)
navy.

20- the army have put a cord round the city ----------------------(barbed wire)
I’d use ‘made a ring’ instead of ‘put a cord’.

21- the murderer choked his victim with stocking ----------------------(no Idea)
…with a stocking.
Possibly ‘throttled’ is intended to replace ‘choked’.

Thanks

I’ve been having pain(s) in the chest.

Why … what’s the difference please ??

7-will this proof stand up in court
You need ‘evidence’ instead of ‘proof’.

8-you can’t do an accusation without proof ----------------------( make an accusation— but have we to change proof ?? and what is the difference between this and the previous sentence ??)
Make an accusation. ‘Proof’ is correct here.

Please what is the difference in the two cases ??

14-when does the number of the try begin ----------------------(countdown)
what might ‘try’ refer to here? i don’t understand the question/

Me too … I thought it might be any try … the try to climb a mountain or any thing !

16-members of the special services are highly drilled ----------------------(served instead of drilled ?)
trained instead of drilled.

so , the members here means the workers ???

I thought it means for example the people who stay in 5 star hotels or something like that

‘higher war pensions’.

And what does it mean ??
what is th link between war and pensions ??

Too many questions at one time, Ahmed. I don’t have time to answer them right now. I have to go to work. Perhaps someone else will help.

Yes I know and I am sorry they are

It is a holiday here

I hope some one will help , I need them today unfortunately

“need them”? Are we checking your homework for you?

Kind of … by the knowledge of the teacher of course

In all these sentences ( the two last collections I mean) I use dictionaries as long as I could , and then I came to ask here about the accuracy of my answers

some of them my teacher had answered them but I wasn’t convinced and the great majority he hadn’t …

And I still want the answers , If you don’t mind

And this sentence with them

The plumber tells us not to turn on the water until the leak has been fixed (find the mistake)

I’ll try to give a hand as soon as possible.
