Well, guys… Russians are everywhere)))))))))
and believe me, dear Newmind, it is quite normal, that the population of a country, let it be Germany, Japan or even Azerbaijan (by the way I’m from Baku (Azerbaijan) and I’m none other than Russian) doesn’t consist only of one title nation (home nation)…moreover, the more multinational country is the more rich culture it has…
I was really surprised, that in the 21st century there is a person who is unaware about such an elementary thing…
as concerned to the reasons that prompted them to move there, they are as diverse as the temperature on the equator and the north pole)))))))))
by the way, the latter is also an area where Russians live (temporarily)… I hope you heard about the northern polar station… Russian researchers have been conducting various investigations there since the north pole was discovered… they have their own polar station called “Полярная”… and every half a year they return back home, while others substitute them…
let me add another example, where Russians live (temporarily, from several weeks to several months)… it is the International Space Station…
so, now you know how “widespread” Russians are)))))))))
The first wave of immegration was after the revolution in Russia in 1918. A lot of highly educated and well being people went to Germany to save their families from communists massacre.
The second - left in Germany after the Second World War, who decided not to come back home in 1945
The third - after the falling of the Berlin Wall in 1989, when the German Government as an act of penitence for Jews genocide, invited Jews to the new united Germany.
Nearly 2 million Russian speaking people are actually germans named late repatriate (Spaetaussiedler). Only more than 120.000 are Jewish. The most Jews’ve gone to Israel in the last 50 years. Around 20% of the people in Isreal can speak fluent Russian. The Russian language was very unpopular during the GDR-time. So the most East Germans cannot really speak Russian.
The Russian language is a wonderful, very poetical. I would like to learn it in the manner of this email course.
