How adamant are you?

Hi,

How often do you use the expression to be adamant about something? I mean, in a conversation with your co-workers or relatives, would you say something like I’m adamantly opposed to your suggestion? In other words, is adamant part of your active vocabulary?

Thanks

Hi Torsten

Yes, that’s an active part of my vocabulary.

My gut reaction is to say that I’d most often use “adamant” with the third person. “He’s adamant about that.” “He’s adamantly opposed to the idea.”

In many cases, I would probably show or indicate that I (myself) am adamant about something in other ways. But that doesn’t mean I would never say “I’m adamantly opposed to…”
