hold in awe

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

She was hold in awe by the all realm, for she had made everybody believe she was a great sorceress. (M. Twain, “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court”)

hold in awe = inspired with fear, strike fear

Thanks for your efforts.

Hi,

Remember that this should be ’ was held in awe’ in your sentence. This means ‘was treated/regarded with great respect’.
