The German word "Streichholzschachtel: has 20! letters while its English equivalent has only 8.

I was told by a foremost expert in German etymology that the story behind many German words goes something like this:

Sober German - Matchbox

After 1 liter of beer - Mashboxt

After 2 liters of beer - Smashthocht

After 5 liters of beer - Streichholzschachtel

Now maybe this story isn’t true, but it certainly sounds viable to me. :slight_smile:
