Help me!

I am confused with grammar structure of this sentence, Why we use “HAVING” here. Please help me!

  • Family is the place where HAVING children is not only tolerated, but welcomed and encouraged.

Can I use this sentence instead:

  • Family is the place where children is not only tolerated, but welcomed and encouraged

Thanks!

Hello, Galilom.

‘Help me’ is a very poor thread subject. It does not help us understand your problem. In future, use subject title related to your problem. Thank you.

‘To have a baby’ = to give birth. That is not quite the same as your suggestion, but ‘where children are not only tolerated’ is probably also acceptable in the sentence.

Thanks for your advice and explaination. This mistake will not happen again.
