[help] Are these sentences correct?

Yes, I knew that tool, but it’s not so many people have I found doing the job with that tool, they’re mostly back using X instead.

2:
It would have been survived were I there then.

If either one of them or all of them you see incorrect/a little strange, kindly give the rectification or the alternative.

My suggestions:

(1) Yes, I knew that tool, but I have not found (so) many people doing the job with that tool, they’ve mostly gone back to using X instead.

(2) It would have survived had I been there then.
