He used the gun in self-defence and the thief was killed.
He regrets now but it’s said “It’s no use crying over spilt milk”
The theif said after getting shot that he was sent to your house. Said Dr. Ishaq.
Who sent him?Who’s the arch-enemy of Dr. Ishaq? Nobody knows
If the thief were alive we’d have known that. Or if the thief were alive we’d know that. ?

in case the thief had survived the gun shot he would have notified the mysterious point (regarding Dr. Ishaq´s arch enemy…) to us because otherwise we would have tortured him/her hard in order to get an answer?

or: we had noted if the thief had survived the gun shot? (We assume the thief is dead.)

That´s how I get the point.

If the thief were alive we’d have found that out.-- find that out at that time
If the thief were alive we’d know that. – know that now.
