'have been' vs 'went'

Can someone please tell me if the following sentences are OK?

  1. I went to London twice this week.
  2. I’ve been to London twice this week.
  3. I went to London twice last week.
  4. I’d been to London twice last week.

Hi,

As I see it:

  1. A straightforward use of past simple
  2. Said at the end of the week
  3. Straightforward use of past simple
  4. Not really making sense.

Alan

Hi Daemon

The biggest problem with sentence 4 is that there is absolutely no justification whatsoever for the use of the past perfect.

You might be able to justify it by adding a simple past tense clause beginning with the word ‘before’, for example.
