I must admit I like the expression another bite at the banana but unfortunately it doesn’t exist as far as I know. The cherry expression means take another chance/make another attempt.

I’m afraid unless this is some unexpectedly huge sort of cherry one would hardly have another chance to bite it ))

You’re absolutely right. The expression is also ‘have a second bite at the cherry’. The point is that the cherry is so small that the chances of being able to take another bite are rare.
