grammar questions

Hi. I have some questions. My friends and I have different answers to the same question. We find it hard to decide who is right or wrong. Will you have me?
Thank you in advance!

  1. I ought to be most grateful if you could let me have the details as soon as possible.
or I should be most grateful if you could let me have the details as soon as possible?

  2. Typhoid was the cause of many deaths in the last century
-> Many people died because of typhoid in the last century
or Many people died of typhoid in the last century
or both of them are acceptable?

  3. I was strongly determined to take my study seriously next semester.
-> I had a strong determination to take my study seriously next semester.
or I had strong determination to take my study seriously next semester?

  4. Alan is both a good husband and a loving father.
-> Besides a good father, Alan is a loving father.
or Besides being a good father, Alan is a loving father .
or both of them are acceptable?

  1. ‘I should be most grateful’ ( = I will be grateful)

  2. Both are OK.

  3. ‘I had a strong determination to take my study seriously next semester.’

  4. Neither of yours is possible. ‘Besides a good husband, Alan is also a loving father.’

Thank you very much! I feel happy that I’ve given correct answers .
At first, I thought “die because of typhoid” would be wrong as “die of typhoid” is a more common phrase. But later, my answer seemed to be acceptable.
These are all questions from my English exam. I’m afraid the teacher won’t accept “died because of…” if there is only one answer.
It was my typing mistake in question no. 4. I am correct indeed.
