going to + while + simple present

Hi, I’ve just heard the following sentence on a Simpons episode:

So tonight we’re not gonna shuffle food in our mouths while we stare at the TV.

Would there be any difference if I changed the sentence like this:

So tonight we’re not gonna shuffle food in our mouths while we’re staring at the TV.?

Many thanks,

The 1st one sounds to me more likely to be said for a future event while the 2nd brings out a short but realistic scene as if they were actually staring at the TV for a short period of time without “shuffling food in their mouths”.
