Do “accustom” and “get used to” have the same meaning and usage?

1.It took him a while to accustom(get used to) himself to the idea.
2.I accustom(get used to) to looking after myself.

Accustom is the infinitive of the verb (to accustom), and No2 needs to be changed to make your sentences correct.

1.It took him a while to accustom(get used to) himself to the idea.
2.I accustom(get used to) to looking after myself.

  1. It took him some time to become accustomed to the idea.
  2. I am accustomed to looking after myself.
