Failed vs misrepresentation.

Hi, please.

  1. He failed to say exactly what I had said.
    Can use the following as a substitution for #1?:
  2. What he said was a misrepresentation of what I said.

Please help.[/u]

They don’t necessarily mean the same.

Although he failed to say what you’d said that doesn’t mean he misrepresented what you said. He might, for example, have omitted what you said.

I have now noticed that ‘misrepresentation’ cannot be used in that way.
