Expression: "...presence is punctuated..."

Hi

I read this sentence in Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown.(Page:24). Could you please tell me what the word punctuate means here? I do not think it means?

1-His captivating personality is punctuated by an unusually low, baritone speaking voice, which his female students describe as “chocolate for the ears”.

Does punctuate mean beautify here?

Tom

Hi Tom

I’d go for “accentuated” as a synonym/meaning.
