Expression "Embark on risky investments"

Hello ;
will you please tell me if it is correct to say ‘embark on risky investments’
‘his business has just started to flourish after years of embarking on risky investments’???

Hi Iilish,

‘Embark’ in its first meaning has the idea of going on to a ship with a view to starting a journey by sea. It has also developed into meaning starting out on something new. That is the sense in which it is used in your sentence indicating that you are starting to invest money in something that has an element of resk. The expression is perfectly valid.
