Explain

Hi, what do the sentences below mean?
1, Imagination outruns facts.
2, I’m nowhere near as ambitious as my brother.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Fouryz!

  1. Imagination outruns facts. -> ‘outrun’ here means to surpass, to outstrip. ‘to outrun’ literally means to run faster but in this context it means that imagination is more important and more significant than facts. You may also assume that it’s better, because it incorporates more things and has much more room for development.

  2. I’m nowhere near as ambitious as my brother. -> ‘nowhere near’ simply means ‘not nearly’. I’m nowhere near something, therefore I am far away from it. In this context it means I am far behind my brother on the scale of ambitiousness.

Hope this helps!
Regards

Thank you very much, nice guy!
