Expectance vs expectation

put the correct form of the verb in the bracket below:

Life…(expect)of the USA has been increasing in the recent years.

I think it’s “expectation” but my teacher said it was “expectance”

Is it correct?

Hi,
Life expectancy/expectance is a set expression.
You can find out more about it from Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_expectancy

Thank you

Hi duc

I’m not sure why you posted this question in two different forums, but here are my comments again:

In my opinion, the use of “expectance” should be considered wrong. The fixed expression is “life expectancy”.

Thank you very much
