#1 is correct. One comp in each room.
#2 is correct. More than one comp in each room.
#3 is wrong. Only one comp can not exist in more than one room.
#4 would be right without “of”. a bit ambiguous for we do not know how many of them is in every room.
That is my opinion.
‘of’ is acceptable in 4 though you are right that it would also be correct without the preposition.
