It’s basically a question of positive vs negative point of view:
NEGATIVE:
1- I [color=red]doubt he has some money. =
My feeling is that he probably does not have any money.
(You should also use any in your original sentence! --> I doubt he has any money.)
POSITIVE:
2- I [color=red]suspect he has some money. =
My feeling is that he probably has some money.
(The word some is correct in this sentence.)
